Yin Yoga (easier level) works to elongate and strengthen connective tissues once the muscles are disengaged. The best part of Yin Yoga is every movement is easy and possible with gentle standing, seated and prone positions. It is very therapeutic for injuries and even spinal misalignments can be addressed. Yin Yoga is meditative and will relieve nervous system tension to improve immune response and promote digestion. If you cannot be on your knees, Chair Yoga or Alignment Yoga will be a better fit for you.
Restorative Yoga (easiest level) incorporates passive poses either by lying or sitting on the floor and deep breathing. Props are used to support the body to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation. By holding these passive and supported yoga poses for a length of time, tension in the body and mind will be released leading to many benefits such as lowered heart rate and blood pressure, reduction in insomnia and muscle tension, and overall improvement in one’s health.
This type of yoga is accessible for all body types.
*Please note this is an adults only class.
